Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter has a wonderful and unique gift opportunity for Valentine's Day: Sponsor-A-Pet Valentine!
Show an animal lover that you care and sponsor a homeless pet in their honor! For a minimum donation of $25.00, your "Valentine" will receive a letter on special stationery stating that they will be the sponsor of a homeless cat or dog (your choice) at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. The recipient's name will be placed on "heart" sponsor tags throughout the shelter, indicating that they are sponsoring an animal in need. Sponsorships run for the month of February only. To make your sponsorship gift simply click here. Please indicate who you would like the gift to be in honor of and the contact information. You can also stop by the shelter during adoption hours to purchase a Sponsor-A-Pet Valentine – we are open from 12-5pm on Valentine’s Day! Please submit gifts online by February 10, 2009 to ensure prompt delivery. All gift information is secure! If you have any questions or would like additional information, please feel free to contact us via email or 973-386-0068. Happy TailsThe staff and volunteers at Mt. Pleasant always reminisce about the cats and dogs that found their way to wonderful homes in 2009 (and years past). We have created a new way to stay in touch! Please email us at happytails@njshelter.org to share a story, a picture, or BOTH! Please keep the updates coming - we love to hear about all the happy tails! You can always see your pictures on the walls at Mt. Pleasant and we are currently creating a page on our website for you to visit and read great stories of our alumni! Have you met Butterscotch yet?She will immediately touch your heart when you do! Butterscotch was brought to Mt. Pleasant at just 13 days old, when two good Samaritans found her in their back yard. She was immediately put into foster care and the veterinarian did not know if she would make it. Thanks to her foster mom and long sleepless nights of bottle feeding, Butterscotch beat the odds and has returned to the shelter ready to jump her last hurdle to living a pain free life! Butterscotch was born with half eyelids, which doesn’t make her any less cute, but it does affect her eyes. Her eyelashes are currently growing into her eyes instead of away from them, which causes a number of problems including permanent damage to her corneas and reoccurring eye infections. It is necessary for Butterscotch to have 2 procedures – costing over $1500 - that will allow her to be a healthy and playful kitten. Mt. Pleasant is currently asking for support to offset the costs of these procedures. She knows that so many people in this world already love her – please help make a difference in her life to allow her to be ready for adoption and have a family to call her own – donate today! Please remember - even the littlest bit helps! Please donate online (and note the donation is for Butterscotch in the comments section) or send donations to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, 194 Route 10 West, East Hanover, NJ 07936 Att: Help Butterscotch! Mt. Pleasant NewsletterOur Winter 2009 Newsletter is now available for download. Shelter Happenings

Thank you to our supporters, you made a difference in the lives of dogs who knew nothing more than life in a cage! Thank you to all of the local veterinary offices for their support throughout this time. We would like to say a huge thank you to Dr. Howard Miller, Eagle Rock Veterinary Hospital in West Orange, for his dedication the Lulu, the gorgeous poodle who needed extensive medical care. Kuranda Dog Beds are great for our shelter dogs because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If
you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please
