Road to Happiness

Mt. Pleasant routinely pulls dogs and puppies that are at high risk for euthanasia from overcrowded facilities outside of NJ.  The animals are featured on our Facebook page to secure sponsorship of their trip North.  The approximate cost of getting an animal to NJ from out of state is $60.00. This covers fees associated with transport, fecal tests, vaccines and a health certificate. Once the dog is in our care, we provide complete medical, including spay/neuter, from an alternate fund.

We are looking for sponsors to save lives. Each sponsorship of $60.00 enables us to save one more pet in need. Once an animal arrives, a tag noting the sponsor’s name as a Road to Happiness lifesaver, is put on the pet’s kennel. Sponsors may come in and say Hello to their sponsored dog during weekday Shelter hours. We encourage sponsors to help promote their pet for adoption on their Facebook pages and thru other social media. We are a team in lifesaving.

To become a sponsor, click on the DONATE button and after making your $60.00 donation, note in the comments “Road to Happiness” Sponsor. Once an animal is SAFE, they will be moved to our SAFE album on Facebook. If you would like to continue sponsorship after arrival, we would be happy to arrange that until the pet is placed in their new forever home.

For questions on sponsorship, please email abby@njshelter.org. Thank you for your support.

Nicky’s Second Chance Fund

Nicky’s Second Chance Fund earmarks funds to treat animals who have medical needs above and beyond our normal standards of care. Mt. Pleasant wants to find a loving home for every animal that walks through our doors. Many times, animals that require special medical care aren’t as desirable for adoption to most people. Our caring staff does all possible to ensure treatment and recovery, preparing each for his or her best possible opportunity.

Nicky’s Second Chance Fund was named after a dog who endured years of abuse and neglect, but found peace and love in her final days at Mt. Pleasant. We honor her memory by using these donations to help get animals into permanent homes as quickly as possible.
