Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter

Who We Are

For more than 53 years, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter has been a pillar of care and compassion for homeless animals. We are driven by a singular purpose: to provide every cat and dog we serve with the chance to find a permanent, loving home. Each animal that comes through our doors receives the highest standard of care, from essential medical services to socialization and enrichment, ensuring they are prepared for a brighter future.

Our primary focus is to rescue abandoned and neglected animals within our local community. However, our efforts extend far beyond New Jersey. We actively partner with shelters across the country to save animals at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding or limited resources. Through these partnerships, we ensure that vulnerable pets are given the opportunity to live and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

As a no-kill shelter, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter never euthanizes any animal for reasons of time or space. Every adoptable animal remains in our care until they find their forever home, no matter how long that journey may take. We are committed to being their temporary family, providing love, stability, and care until they become a cherished member of someone else’s.

Beyond adoption, our shelter offers life-saving veterinary care to animals in need, both in our facility and through our foster network. Foster families play a vital role in helping pets heal and grow in a home environment, giving them a better chance at a successful adoption.

Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter operates as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, relying entirely on the generosity of donors, grants, and bequests. Every contribution fuels our mission to save lives, one animal at a time. With your support, we continue to create new beginnings for homeless pets and strengthen the bond between animals and their families.
