MPAS partners with PetSmart Charities for National Adoption Week!

Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter Brings Adoptable Pets in Need of Loving Homes During PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Week

In-Person Adoption Events to Take Place at Local Shelter & PetSmart Stores March 6 – 12

March 05, 2023 – EAST HANOVER, NEW JERSEY:  Each year, more than five million pets enter animal shelters in need of loving homes. Today, pets are staying in shelters longer and many local shelters are struggling with stretched budgets and limited staffing. In partnership with PetSmart Charities, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter will bring adoptable pets to the East Hanover PetSmart location in support of National Adoption Week, taking place March 10-12, 2023.

During the in-store event, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter invites pet lovers to make room in their homes for pets in need. PetSmart Charities also encourages people to consider adopting pets with special needs, like Simba. A year ago, Simba came to the shelter looking for a home. A fun-loving dog, Simba has trouble sharing, and requires a special adopter to understand his needs. Animals with special needs tend to linger at the shelter, waiting for longer periods of time to find that special person. With proper training, both animal and adopter can live a fulfilling and happy life together.

“National Adoption Week is an ideal opportunity to give a pet in need what they need most – people to love,” said Heidi Fulcher, Sr. Adoptions Grant Manager at PetSmart Charities. “Pets with special needs, such as those recovering from injuries or living with limb differences, trauma recovery or physical limitations make wonderful additions to families. These resilient pets have a lot to teach us about the joy and value of caregiving.”

PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week is a special time during the year. PetSmart stores feature adoptable pets to meet and cuddle in spacious areas, and staff and volunteers are on-hand to make introductions and answer questions. Potential pet parents can also learn about the products and services they’ll need for the best possible start with their new family members.

“During this important week, we also recognize that there are many animals living in shelters for long periods of time because of behavior challenges,” says Lorri Coppola-Caffrey, Executive Director at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. “Making a commitment to providing a loving home for an animal in need is one of the most selfless acts a person can do. Pet parents can truly save the life of a shelter pet with one simple act of kindness.”

MPAS partners with MLB Network for its first annual Dog Adoption Day!

It was a “home run” attending MLB Network’s first annual Dog Adoption Day at their facility in Secaucus, New Jersey. We are grateful to the MLB Network and its employees for making us feel welcome and for spending the day with some of our adorable dogs and puppies.

Special thanks to Rosemarie’s Rescue Ranch, Bark and Bones Bakery, and Give a Bella Box for helping us to make the day extra special.

Events like these are important. They increase the visibility of our animals available for adoption, helping them to find homes sooner. We are grateful to MLB Network for making this day possible.
