Together We Can Make a Difference!

#GivingTuesdayNow emphasizes opportunities to give back to causes, like Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, in safe ways that allow for social connection and kindness even while practicing physical distancing. Whether you are advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or raising donations, every act of generosity makes a difference.

While the world is finding new ways of coming together and re-imagining the way we get things done, our work continues. Now, more than ever, we need your help to help sustain our shelter. Below are some ways you can help support our efforts on #GivingTuesdayNow.

Show Us Your Best #Unselfie

You can help increase awareness for our shelter by sharing your “#unselfie” on our social media sites. Download and print our Unselfie template or draw your own on a piece of paper. Take a selfie while holding up your sign and share it on your social media accounts. Tell your friends why you support Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter and what it means to you. Tag us remembering to use the hashtags “#unselfie” and “#GivingTuesdayNow”. Our tags on social media are:

  • Facebook:  @mt.pleasantanimalshelter
  • Twitter:  @mt_animal
  • Instagram: @mpanimalshelter

Create a Facebook Fundraiser

Many charities have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and ours is no exception. We rely solely on the donations we receive, and they enable us to do what we do best, save the lives of precious animals. Creating your Facebook Fundraiser and sharing it with friends will help sustain the important work we do.

Give a Gift that Saves Lives

While we are all sheltering in place and navigating our new normal, homeless animals are still in need of help. Your gift will sustain the shelter through this pandemic and beyond and will ensure a brighter tomorrow for animals in their greatest time of need.

Donate Supplies

Supplies are always needed. We need them for the animals at our shelter and for the many fosters who have graciously stepped up to house our animals during the pandemic. To practice safe social distancing, donations can be left outside the shelter daily between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. A member of our staff will collect them throughout the morning. You can also order items online to have shipped directly to to the shelter.

Crafting and Baking

While we are all sheltering in place, we have seen an increase in baking and crafting. We encourage you to share your best recipes for animal treats or instructions for toys or bedding that you have made. If you need some ideas, here are some that we like.

If you are looking for other ideas check out the GivingTuesdayNow toolkit. They also have resources available for kids. We are extremely grateful for our family of volunteers and supporters and look forward to a time where we can all come together soon.
