Since we opened our doors 49 years ago, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter has depended on the support of people like you to help us deliver the highest quality of care for cats and dogs who need us.
While we strive for perfection in everything we do, we also recognize there is always room for improvement. With this in mind, we partnered with Dr. Sara Pizano, a veterinarian and animal welfare strategist, who has authored The Best Practice Playbook For Animal Shelters, to help us evolve to a more community-centric animal welfare model. This approach will allow us to more quickly identify and provide the right care needed for each animal, reducing their stay at the shelter, which in turn will allow us to bring more animals through our doors.
As part of our transition, Maureen Van Artsdalen has stepped down as Executive Director. As we begin our search for a new Executive Director, our Development Manager, Lorri Caffrey, will serve as interim Director. In addition to having years of volunteer leadership experience, Lorri is also a co-founder and Board Member of the SUDC Foundation. We are excited to work with Lorri in this new capacity.
We will keep you updated on our search for a new executive director. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at board@njshelter.org.
We are so thankful for the support you have given us in the past. We hope we can count on your continued support as Mt. Pleasant enters this next exciting phase of growth.
Sincerely,
Henry J. Ristuccia
President – Board of Directors
